The position of Internal Computer Consultant supports more than 270 people
including faculty, staff and researchers.
The computer consultant's duties include:
- help faculty, staff and secretaries get connected to the university
network
- work to resolve problems and questions that arise (hardware and
software) in the course of daily work
- troubleshoot computer difficulties
- oversee, update and maintain computers (hardware and software) in
biology labs and teaching classrooms in consultation with faculty
and teaching assistants
- assist appointed "domain administrators" for MCB, EEB, and PNB.
Set up network accounts and notify domain administrators
- function as a resource for developing templates for forms and obtaining
DATA reports from university systems
- administer the BCS-L and BIOGRD-L
listserv accounts
- develop and maintain department-wide administrative backups
The computer consultant is also helping to establish an integrated
database system for Biology Central Services.
